A VILLAGE battling to save a pub which has been boarded up and left to fall in to disrepair is making an urgent plea to owner DJ Chris Evans.
Villagers have been campaigning for months to try to save the picturesque Lickfold Inn but are failing to attract the attention of the DJ himself.
Speaking at a full Chichester District Council meeting, councillor Elizabeth Hamilton said: “On behalf of the local community I would like to appeal to Chris Evans.
“We love your bubbly personality waking us up, and we do not know how much you know about the situation in Lickfold.
“Please help the community bring life back into the pub.”
She said a historic buildings officer had been trying to gain entry to the property to determine the deterioration but had not been successful. Cllr Hamilton said the issue had been ‘on the parish council’s agenda for months’.
The pub was bought in 2007 by the BBC Radio 2 breakfast presenter but he closed it three years later claiming he could ‘no longer justify keeping the Lickfold open.’
