Police name Tangmere man killed by train on New Year’s Eve

THE man from Tangmere who died after being struck by a train in Oving on New Year’s Eve has been named by police.

The 25-year-old has been named as Rory Minns, British Transport Police said.

A transport police spokesperson said: “Our officers were called to Woodhorn Lane crossing in Oving, shortly after 2pm on Wednesday, 31 December, following reports a person had been struck by a train.

“Colleagues from South East Coast Ambulance Service and Sussex Police also attended, and the body of a man was discovered at the scene.

“The man has been named as Rory Minns, 25, from Tangmere. His family has been informed.

“An inquest was opened and adjourned on Friday, 2 January.”

British Transport Police had earlier confirmed that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

All trains were cancelled between Chichester and Barnham, with replacement buses running between Barnham and Havant.
