Police target anti-social behaviour in Midhurst and Petworth

Officers from the Midhurst and Petworth neighbourhood policing team have run operations in both town centres to combat anti-social behaviour.

In Midhurst, the operation resulted in the arrest of two men for the alleged possession of illegal drugs.

Both are currently on police bail whilst the substances are examined.

Officers also issued a number of fixed penalty notices for road traffic offences, including driving whilst using a mobile phone and excess speed.

In Petworth, the operation resulted in a boy and a man being dealt with for possession of cannabis.

The juvenile was summoned to court and the adult was given a police street warning.

A girl was arrested for breaching a note issued by police directing her to leave a specific area for a set period.

She was later given a formal police reprimand for that offence.

Sergeant Chris Glasspool said: “We will be running a lot more of these operations within our towns in the coming months in an effort to stamp out anti social behaviour, whether that be that from youth disorder or from anti social drivers.

“This is especially important as we move into the school summer holidays.”
