FRIENDS and family are anxiously awaiting news of a local runner who took part in the terrorist-hit Boston Marathon.
Nick Bailey, from East Wittering, took part in the race in which two bombs exploded near the finish line killing three people and leaving 17 more fighting for their lives. Hundreds more have been injured.
Mr Bailey, who works for West Sussex County Council, did not complete the race and his family have not been able to get hold of him. But his son Dan, a professional triathlete, says they are not overly worried about him.
He said: “We’re not entirely sure where he is. We tried the number they gave out and we used the hotline but it was no use to us.
“We’re still trying to get hold of him.
“The thing is, he is a slow runner and would probably not have been at that point yet. It’s just a case of waiting now until he telephones us.”
