WARNING signs are to be put up along the Lickfold road from Fernhurst because of the increasing number of deer and the potential hazards they cause.
Fernhurst parish councillor John Self said there were more deer there now than in all the years he had lived along the road.
As it is narrow in several places with difficult banks, the chance of meeting a deer is great and hitting one can cause severe damage not only to the deer but also to the car and its occupants.
Another popular place for deer is the A286 at Kingsley Green where they pose a hazard crossing the road.
Anyone who sees a dead deer on a road or roadside verge, and wants to report it, should call 01243 785339.
