South Pond at Midhurst flooded as rain continued to lash down across the area.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is appealing to members of the public to only dial 999 in a real emergency as crews struggle to cope with the high level of calls.

With many roads closed they also appealed to motorists to travel only if absolutely essential and to allow extra time.

The Met Office has indicated there will be no let up in the current weather today (June 11).

An average 10 to 15mm of rain will be seen across the county over the next 18 hours. Where scattered thunder showers occur later, there could be up to 20mm of rain within an hour.
