TWO sporty young stars from Fittleworth Village School have once again impressed at the highest level of sport.

Sisters Lily and Daisy Seymour last year recorded some of the fastest times nationally during swimming trials at Guildford and have now turned their attention to the biathlon.

Representing the school at the South Eastern Regional Schools Biathlon Qualifier at Gillingham in Kent, Daisy achieved a fantastic third place in the under-11 group which gives her automatic qualification to the National Championships in London in April next year.

Lily came an impressive seventh in the nine-year-old age group, securing a fantastic high score.

Lily will have to patiently wait until the new year to see if she has also qualified for the nationals.

Headteacher Graham Bloomfield said: “Apparently standards were particularly high on the day and since Daisy and Lily have only recently started training for the biathlon and neither girl had ever run on a proper track before, their achievements were all the more remarkable.

“We are immensely proud of Daisy and Lily at school and I feel sure we have champions in the making.”
