STEDHAM villagers have given their old red telephone box in the centre of the village a new lease of life.

It has been turned into an information centre including an ordnance map of the area with footpaths marked and is stacked out with leaflets on Stedham and Iping Commons as well as facts about the wildlife of the area.

Chairman of the parish council Chris Morgan said: “When BT decided to shut down their telephone boxes we were given the opportunity to buy ours for £1, which we did.”

The manager of the new information point is villager Sue Payne who organised the fitting-out of the box and the installation of the leaflets.
