EVEN Gareth Malone would have been proud of the 70 strong ‘super choir’ at Seaford College Prep School.
The school played host to talented and enthusiastic young singers from a number of schools for a Choral Singing Day.
It’s own choir members were joined by children from Duncton, Easebourne and Petworth Primary Schools as well as singers from Great Ballard, Oakwood and Pennthorp Schools.
In place of Gareth Malone, the special event was led by Seaford’s choirmasters Sara Reynolds and Jeremy Weaver who brought the best out of all the voices throughout the day.
It started with a big choir warm up to loosen the singing muscles and settle the breakfast.
The singers then split into two groups for sectional rehearsals, where they played musical games with songs like ‘Michael Finnegan’, ‘The Scooby Doo Song’, ‘Inch Worm’ and ‘Hooked on School’ as well as finding time to practice the keynote song of the day ‘Let There be Peace’ by Jon Raybould.
The children came together again in the afternoon, this time with a band to accompany them, for a final rehearsal.
They then performed in front of Seaford College pupils and visiting parents.
The event was such a success with both staff and pupils that it was decided to hold another super choir day at Seaford in 2014.
