Easebourne parish councillors are holding talks with West Sussex County Council (WSCC) over the future use of the Midhurst Rother College Easebourne site once the new school opens in Midhurst next year.
They were told most of the land was owned by WSCC.
The playing fields would remain in school use for at least a year after the new school opened.
Ideas put forward for future use included village sports facilities, moving the football club, moving the children’s playground, a village hall and re-siting Easebourne Primary School.
A parish council task force has been set up, to work with WSCC and other interested bodies, to take the ideas forward.
