Arrests after Midhurst garden centre targeted by intruders

Police have charged two intruders at the Aylings Garden Centre with burglary after they were arrested in the middle of the night.

The arrests happened in the early hours of Thursday, August 30, at the garden centre, which is on the A272 at Trotton near Midhurst.

A burglar alarm had been activated, and police arrived within ten minutes.

They found three men in the mower shop, and while they arrested two, a third managed to escape and has not yet been found.

Nothing is believed to have been stolen.

The arrested men are Frank Johnson. 37, of March Lane, Easthampnett, and Paul Oldrieve, 35, of no fixed address.

They are due to appear on bail at Chichester Magistrates Court on September 19.
