Cocking villagers set to go to the polls as parish chairman quits

VILLAGERS in Cocking are facing a parish council election for the first time in eight years following the resignation of the chairman, Frances Russell.

Miss Russell, who has served on the council for ten years and been its chairman for eight, announced she had decided to resign at the March meeting and stepped down immediately.

Now villagers have decided to hold a election to fill the vacancy left by Miss Russell.

This will take place on May 24 and the deadline for nominations is Thursday, April 26. Forms can be obtained from the returning officer at Chichester District Council or from Cocking parish clerk Kate Bain.
