FERNHURST A six-a-side team have won their own tournament for the first time in the 25 years they have been organising the competition.
Captain Nathan New, who is also the top goal scorer in the West Sussex league with 20 goals, was presented with the trophy by co-organiser Mischa Allen.
Fernhurst fielded two teams with another from the cricket club while Worthing and Claremont also ran an A and B team with single teams from Rogate, Fittleworth, Scottish and Southern Electricity, Dryden and Milland
Six teams played in each league and the top four of each league then played those from the other league before the semi-finals of Fernhurst Cricket Club v Fernhurst A and Fittleworth v Worthing A. In the final Fernhurst A beat Fittleworth by 1-0.
It is hoped this fundraising event will have raised several hundred pounds for the club’s general running expenses.
Fernhurst A plays in Div 2 of the West Sussex league and the reserves in Div 5 while the U16 are in the Arun and Chichester Youth League.
