A HOTEL chain encouraged people to get on their bikes to raise money for a leading cancer charity.

Historic Sussex Hotels hosted a sponsored bike ride between its three hotels to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 52-mile ride started bright and early at Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa, in Cuckfield.

Cyclists then set off to the Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa, in Midhurst, for a pit stop lunch and well deserved rest before continuing down to Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa, in Climping.

Amanda Saville, who helped organise the ride, said: “We are all affected by cancer, so, as a local company, we wanted to support a cause that would benefit people in Sussex with cancer. We are delighted to announce the bike ride has raised £3,350.”

Historic Sussex Hotels has previously supported the charity by hosting a gala dinner to celebrate Macmillan’s centenary and taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
