TILLINGTON has been buzzing over the last few days with an Art Show in the village hall and villagers opening their gardens to the public, all in aid of the parish church.
And the icing on the cake was the arrival at the village hall of celebrated villager Gerald Gresham Cook fresh from carrying the Olympic flame through Tillington who officially ‘re-opened’ the art show.
Art show and open garden organisers joined forces to offer cream teas and on Monday there were lunches too courtesy of art show volunteers.
Some 30 artists offered their work for sale from paintings, knitwear and pottery to jewellery and photographs. Exhibitors also demonstrated spinning and embroidery. Sales by artists reached more than £1,500 and more than £500 went to church funds.
Organiser Lee Lavington said: “There was a steady flow of viewers throughout both days, especially when our Olympic torchbearer arrived. It was really enjoyable.”
