Frustrated motorists are reporting long holdups in the middle of Midhurst this afternoon (Wednesday May 4) after a JCB excavator broke down on Rumbolds Hill.

Drivers travelling north along the A272 say the traffic queues are building up in North Street and the congestion stretches back as far as Egmont Road in Easebourne.

Recently one of Midhurst’s district Councillors suggested the Midhurst bypass debate should be resurrected in an attempt to stem growing traffic congestion in the centre of town and in Easebourne.
