Petworth resident will hold a speed survey

Residents of Angel Street in Petworth are to carry out their own survey of the speed of vehicles after further complaints about the dangers posed to pedestrians.

Veteran campaigner John Morgan told Petworth town councillors at their last meeting, vehicles were still exceeding the speed limit, the edges of paving stones were being damaged and he had recently tripped over one and fallen into the road.

Although police were not able to carry out another survey, Mr Morgan was told if he could find six volunteers they could carry out their own, using a speed indicator device.

Petworth’s police community support officer Ian Luxford is to set up the project for residents.
