A WOMAN has sustained serious head injuries after the Coldwaltham crash this afternoon (April 9).

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were called to a report of a car colliding with a telegraph pole and a tree on a bend on the Old London Road at Coldwaltham near Pulborough today at 2.20pm.

“The woman driver was trapped in her Mini car and the A29 Old London Road junction with the A283 southbound was closed while fire and rescue cut her from the wreckage. She has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with a serious head injury.

“The road remains closed as the telegraph pole involved has come down into the carriageway.”

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene, reported to the Observer as Kings Way near the A29 and Old London Road, and said fire crews cut the woman from her car before she was conveyed to hospital.
