Victim of fatal Petworth crash is named

The 72 year old driver who died in a collision near Petworth on Saturday, August 20 has been named by police.

He was Duncan James McGregor of Hillside, Petworth.

He died after his silver Ford Fiesta hit a tree in Lavington Common East, between the A285 and the A272 at around 5.10pm last Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said a police spokesman.

He was one of three people who died in West Sussex during a black weekend on the county’s roads.

Sussex Police has now appealed for witnesses to the incident in Lavington Common East to contact officers.

Anyone who saw what happened or has any information is asked to contact police on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Seaside.
