MANAGER of the new centre Mike Boyce said: “Someone came through the door and just said ‘wow’ and I think that sums up the centre.”
The state-of-the-art £8.1m centre which opened yesterday (March 3) includes a multi-purpose four court sports hall as well as the cafe and bar overlooking South Pond.
In addition the community hub space which can be split into three separate areas also has huge glass windows looking towards the pond.
This will be home to the Rother Valley Together facilities for elderly people.
Also downstairs is the Simon Sainsbury room, a two court sports hall which doubles for community use.
While upstairs is the health suite complete with jacuzzi as well as treatment rooms, dance studio for fitness classes and the gym overlooking the pond.
The library and registrar’s office will be opened by West Sussex County Council at the end of the month.
There will be 302 car parking spaces when the project is complete.
