WEST Sussex County Council says the A286 at Easebourne had to closed for ‘emergency’ tree felling today (Friday, July 31)

A spokesman said part of a tree had already fallen and the road was closed so it could be felled safely.

The closure is expected to be in place for another two hours.

But highways officers hope it will be open by the time Goodwood race-goers are heading home.

The closure has meant heavy traffic is being diverted along Wheelbarrow Castle and is joining the A272 through Midhurst.
