A USERS’ meeting at The Grange Centre saw the district council reassure the public the move to the new leisure centre would remain as painless as possible.
The meeting, which took place at the current centre last Thursday (January 24), saw as many as 80 concerned residents turn up to ask questions about the future of the centre and their groups.
A Chichester District Council spokeswoman said: “An update on the progress of the new centre was given and we also reassured all of the groups that the gap between the closure of the old building and the opening of the new will be kept to a minimum.
“We also talked about how we now want to start planning the move with the clubs and organisations, and how we want them to be involved.
“Currently, the completion date of the construction is December 9, 2013. However, this date could change due to bad weather or technical issues. We will continue to keep the users informed as the project progresses.”
