NEARLY 100 people turned out on Wednesday (March 12) in Lodsworth Village Hall, in a bid to take back the pub owned by DJ Chris Evans, the Lickfold Inn.
A public meeting was held to discuss the ‘community right to bid’, with people putting forward their suggestions and pledging money, while a member of Chichester District Council (CDC) went to the meeting to guide people on how they can make the pub an asset of community value.
The community must now register its intention to bid on the pub with CDC by March 21, and have a further four and a half months to raise the £775,000 to buy it.
The presenter and Radio 2 DJ closed down the 15th century gastro pub after it struggled to make a profit in 2010. He has now put it on the market.
After three years without finding a buyer, the Grade II-listed building has fallen into disrepair, recently being flooded during the heavy rain.
