Sunday brings Goodwood’s family raceday, in association with the NSPCC, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn all about horse racing.

The seven-race card begins at 1.50pm with the Sunday School Maiden Stakes and continues until 5.10pm and the NSPCC Charity Raceday Stakes. See tips below.

After gates open at 11.30am, children are invited to tour the jockeys’ weighing room and try on the silks, while families can take a guided walk with clerk of the course Seamus Buckley.

You can meet a racehorse to appreciate their size and power, visit the race start as the runners burst from the stalls (as seen in our video, above), watch farrier demonstrations and quiz a vet.

Race-goers can have a go at riding a finish on a mechanical horse. And if anyone still has the energy, there is even a free fairground to enjoy.

Tickets are still available – call 01243 755055, see www.goodwood.com - or you can pay on the day.
