FIREFIGHTERS called in the aerial ladder platform from Horsham to tackle dangerous panels which had been ripped from their fixings on the roof of the Texaco Garage forecourt at Midhurst on Tuesday evening (May 5).

The firefighters were under the supervision of crew commander Duncan Warwood, one of the crewing optimisation group now stationed at Midhurst.

Two firefighters on the ladder were positioned at the top of the canopy and removed the dangerous panels which were flapping in strong wind above the pavement in Bepton Road.

The garage was cordoned off by the fire service while the safety work was carried out.
