South Pond campaigners Mel Bilham and Linda Bateman joined officers from Chichester District Council (CDC) Andy Howard, Martin Beach and Justin Jones, together with South Downs National Park officer Andy Beattie, Chichester district councillor Steve Morley and South Pond co-ordinator Barbara Coote to look at the first phase of reed clearance.
Cllr Morley said: “Bays and channels have been created making it clear where the inlets will be this summer and further talks covered what other improvements could be made at this stage.” On Saturday (February 18) from 10am-midday The South Pond Group will be continuing the work and preparing the area before the start of bird nesting. “All those willing to help are welcome but please wear appropriate clothing,” said Cllr Morley.
