Young Liphurst unicyclist completes marathon effort for RNLI

A ONE-wheeled wonder has raised almost £1,000 for the RNLI.

Duncan Codd, 13, bought his first unicycle only eighteen months ago after a series of circus skills lessons at the Bohunt School in Liphook.

On Saturday, August 4, Duncan completed a unicycle marathon, riding the 26.2 miles along the lanes of West Sussex and Hampshire.

His ride took him around Liphook, Midhurst, Selham and Bordon, all carefully measured so that he completed the full marathon distance.

He finished the course in a little under four hours.

Duncan decided to raise funds for the RNLI, because not only is he a keen unicyclist, but he also sails Topper dinghies with the Felpham Sailing Club.

Having initially hoped to raise around £300 for RNLI wet weather gear, he soon surpassed this amount, as well as his next target of £500.

His total is currently about £800, and still increasing.

His final target is £1,000 and this final finishing line is not too far away.

He is a member of Horsham Unicycling Club, where he also does off-road cycling.
