YOUNGSTERS in Petworth have rolled up their sleeves and given up their spare time to give the Sylvia Beaufoy Youth Centre a new lease of life.
Centre manager Sandra Thomas said: “Lea Conway, Paige Whittington and Micheal Walton gave up their Thursday afternoons for three weeks and worked very hard on the project.
“The young people said they enjoy coming to youth club and wanted to take some responsibility in making it look clean and tidy.
“They are all immensely proud of what they have achieved.
“The teenagers here have been working with Piers Taylor, who is the community safety officer for Chichester District Council, and Rod Foster who volunteers at the Sylvia Beaufoy, to clean up the outside area of the building and paint the front porch.
“The Sylvia Beaufoy centre is very proud of the young people who are helping.
“They are a very hard working team and have given the centre a huge face-lift.
“It was for the big clean up campaign.
“Piers donated some tools and paint and other materials were donated to the youth club.
“The campaign has been so successful that the group are now painting the inside of the building, and next year the group hope to do some gardening around the side of the centre.”
