MAGICAL Thailand came to the Hamilton Arms for another year with a spectacular night market.
The night market included stalls, Thai massage, Thai dancers, and a Vietnamese food stall.
Mudita Karnasuta owns the Stedham pub, and runs a Magical Thailand event every year to raise money for her charity the Mudita Trust, which she set up more than 20 years ago.
This year the night market raised around £1,600 for a safe house for abandoned and neglected children in Thailand.
Mudita said: “The night market went really well but we will change the date for next year so it doesn’t clash with Revival.
“The night market ran on Saturday night and Sunday morning and was decorated with hundreds of lights. People said it was like a fairy land.”
The annual event is popular not only with Stedham residents, but has attracted people from far and wide who come every year.
In previous years the event has included Thai boxing, Thai craft and food stalls, dancing, aromatherapy and other traditional Thai pastimes.
For three years the event had to be held at the Grange Centre in Midhurst after torrential rain washed out visitors in 2007 and because there were parking problems in Stedham, but for the past two years they have been able to run the festival from the original festival site in Stedham.
Mudita moved to West Sussex in 1992 to The Hamilton Arms where she runs the Pub and Nava Thai Restaurant on the site with her business partner Suhail Hussain.
The Mudita Trust was granted charity status in 1993 and The Hamilton Arms became the head office.
The Hamilton Arms and Nava Thai was one of the first freehold pubs in the country to serve traditional Thai food and over the years has become very much part of the Stedham community.
