MIDHURST firefighters didn’t let the weather deter them on Saturday when they took to car-washing for a good cause.

Abandoning their usual hosepipes, the fire and rescue service were armed with buckets and sponges, to raise money for injured firefighters.

The Firefighters Charity provides pioneering treatment and support services to the thousands of firefighters who are injured every year.

It also provided an opportunity for the firefighters to chat to residents more informally about fire and road safety.

The annual car wash is the charity’s largest national fundraising event and involves fire services from all around the UK.
