Fail to see how

I refer to your headlines regarding the proposed Southbourne learning village. I fail to see how objections by just 45 people out of 8,000 can be described as a ‘backlash’. To look at it another way this means that an overwhelming 7,955 people (99.43 per cent) are either in favour or, at the very least, do not object.

While it is obvious that traffic in the village would be a difficulty, by his own admission parish councillor Mark Everson recognises this is an existing problem that needs attention now – particularly the inordinately long time the rail crossing gates stay closed to road traffic.

With the prospect of a learning village this should bring priority to resolving this particular problem.

I would urge the trust to continue their excellent plans.
