New patron for Haslemere museum

SIR Vernon Ellis from Kingsley Green, near Fernhurst, has accepted an invitation to become one of the honorary patrons of the Haslemere Educational Museum.

He is joining a group which includes Baroness Bottomley, Lloyd Grossman, Jeremy Hunt, Philip Jackson, Sir Andrew Motion, Michael Nicholson and Professor Richard Forty who, the museum says, bring a wide variety of expertise and experience to the patronage.

Sir Vernon is chairman of the British Council which works in education, society, English language and arts in 110 countries, and president of the English National Opera.
