THE Royal Military Police will be celebrating half a millennium since the appointment of their first leader by marching through Chichester.
The four guards making up the parade will be exercising their freedom of the city on Thursday, June 16, to mark the 500th anniversary of the appointment of the first Provost Marshal.
The parade will start at the fire station on the Northgate roundabout at 12.30pm and will move down North Street, preceded by the Band of the Light Cavalry, to the Assembly Rooms where the mayor Tony French will address the parade.
From the Assembly Rooms it will continue along North Street into West Street where they will dismiss.
There will be around 160 servicemen and women involved in the parade, with 30 soldiers in each of the four guards.
There will also be a number of Chelsea pensioners in the parade.
