IN LESS than nine years, the electors of Plaistow ward in Ifold, Loxwood, Lurgashall, Northchapel and Plaistow will have had to go to the polls 14 times when the latest by-election is held this April.
Far from this being democracy’s finest hour, it is a Conservative party disgrace.
Every householder has had to pay five times for by-elections caused by the inability of a sitting Conservative councillor to last four years in office. On every occasion this causes ructions, wastes our and Chichester District Council’s money and means ineffective representation.
If the local Conservative party has any decency or sense of responsibility at all, it will not
put up a candidate on April 19 since it is patently unable to get its selection right.
