Hospital staff made traumatic time easier

Have your say

I just have to pass on my heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester and to bring to your attention what an amazing job they do.

Bearing in mind the bad press given to the nursing profession recently, the care given to me during my recent stay on Ashling Ward was second to none.

From day one I received all I could ask for in terms of medication and treatment but also emotional support, a smile and even a hug when needed can work miracles.

My stay was extended due to severe infection and during the four-and-a-half weeks I can honestly say I never once was made to feel I was a nuisance (even though I’m sure I was at times) and the genuine consideration and care given got me through the most difficult time of my life.

My family has asked me to mention they also received the most fantastic support from the nursing staff when times were difficult. Always happy to answer any questions, made them feel welcome at all times, even a shoulder to cry on at times.

Thank you is so easy to say and I will never be able to put into words without sounding dramatic, how much this has helped me other than to say without these wonderful, dedicated, hard-working people, I’m not sure I would have had the strength to make such a recovery.

I would just like to add this praise should be extended to all the staff from the cleaners upwards.

I would be so grateful if you would print this letter, my way of returning a little something that may just brighten someone’s day.
