LETTER: Imprisoned by pollution

1
Have your say

It has been gratifying to note that among the deluge of letters you have received about the A27, you have printed a slowly increasing number of sensible comments, the latest (September 29) from Peter Lansley who highlights the poisonous air pollution already produced – and set to increase – by this now infamous road.

It has long been the experience of those of us who live in the centre of Chichester that we can open our windows very early in the morning and enjoy the scents of green fields and even the sea carried to us on the prevailing breeze.

At 7 to 7.30am this all changes to traffic fumes – signal to shut the windows for the rest of the day.

It is astonishing that in this year of grace 2016 it should be thought acceptable because “inevitable” for people to be as it were imprisoned to such barbaric treatment.
