Parking confusion

I must admit I am confused about parking in Midhurst. I am told there are two hours’ free parking and then it becomes pay and display.

But just why is a ticket needed for ‘free parking’? It would be expected that Chichester District Council shows the regulations on its website so potential visitors can know what to expect.

And what about residential parking, paid for by residents but being used by anyone. Where are the enforcement officers?

Traffic flow has not benefited from this policy, just as predicted by Midhurst Town Council.

Where is the local responsibility as promised by the government?

Midhurst don’t want it, but CDC says ‘tough – we need the income’.
