The lead article in the Midhurst and Petworth Observer (May 17) seemed pathetic. My experience of taking material to the dump has always been made more pleasant by the very kind attitude of the staff, who often without me asking have taken heavy items from my car and dumped them, themselves.
The reason for refusal to take this dishwasher is obvious, it would be only too easy for unscrupulous tradesmen to exploit the system and the staff have every right to refuse any suspicious loads. Rather than waste the time of Andrew Tyrie, Mr Renshaw would have been better to enquire about the rules in advance.
I hope this criticism will not deter the staff who are doing a difficult job, cheerfully and very efficiently. More power to their elbows!
