SUSSEX County Cricket Club qualified for the t20 quarter-finals last night (July 3) with a six-wicket win at Surrey.

Sussex have now won all six of the matches they have played – with the other two rained-off – and need one point from their final two games to seal a home quarter-final.

In a rain-interrupted game at Surrey, the hosts scored 106-6 from 16.2 overs before rain ended their innings.

Zander de Bruyn top-scored with 30 not out, Rory Burns struck 23 and Steven Davies hit 21 from just 11 balls, while Kevin Pietersen was dismissed for just eight.

Sussex captain Mike Yardy led by example and took 2-15 from his four overs.

Sussex were set a revised target off 109 from 15 overs and eased to victory in just 11.4 overs.

Luke Wright top-scored with 32 off just 21 balls, Chris Nash hit 22 off 12 deliveries and Matt Prior crashed 25 from only 10 balls.

Sussex are away to second-placed Hampshire on Friday (July 6, 7pm), before completing their t20 programme at home to Surrey on Sunday (July 9, 2.40pm).
