Friday’s jump-racing card at Fontwell Park has been abandoned.
The track has been unable to withstand six inches of rain that has fallen in the past fortnight - with another three-quarters of an inch forecast before tomorrow afternoon.
It is a blow to the course, which had attracted 101 entries for the seven-race card, including 27 in the bumper.
Now officials will turn their attention to Sunday week’s meeting, which includes one of their biggest races of the year - the Totepool Southern National.
The first of seven races is timed for 12.45pm.
We’ll have a full preview of the day in our exclusive Focus on Fontwell column in the Observer next week (Nov 14).
