Our youth football round-up includes success for Chichester City Youth under-nines and a recruitment drive by Bognor’s under-18 set-up.

UNDER-NINE

Chichester City Youth ended their season by winning the Wilson Cup final at Arundel, beating Felpham Colts 2-1 and maintaining their 100 per cent record for the season.

Chichester had to overcome Worthing Town, Rustington Otters and Worthing Minors on the way to the final.

A big crowd turned up to watch and the first half was generally controlled by Chichester, applying early pressure and battling well and not giving up the ball easily. They led 2-0 at the break.

The second half saw Chichester unlucky not to go 3-0 up when a goal was disallowed. After that, Felpham put Chichester under pressure in the last ten minutes with the Chichester goalie making some great saves.

Felpham scored with five minutes to go, but in a very nervous last few minutes, Chichester saw the game out to lift their second trophy of the season.

Manager Chris Bullen and assistant coaches Gary Ewins and Matt Dacombe are very proud of their team’s achievements this season.

UNDER-13

Barnham Blue require more players. They will be running training sessions this month, when new players are welcome to attend.

Bognor under-18s are holding open trials for the 2014-15 season on Tuesday, May 27 and Thursday 29.

The venue is Arun Leisure Centre in Felpham Way, Bognor. Players should meet on the grass field at the back of the leisure centre.

Sessions will run from 6.45pm to 8.30pm. Anyone attending should wear any colour training kit - but preferably black or white to limit variation of colours on show.
