Chichester’s slide continues ... Pagham keep up the chase

Chichester City’s slide down the Sussex League first-division table continued with a 5-0 defeat at East Grinstead.

Adie Girdler’s side have lost their way badly since the turn of the year and are 14th - just 12 points above the relegation zone - after this latest reverse.

Pagham kept up the chase for second place with a 3-1 home win over Hailsham. The Lions are third, two points behind Three Bridges in second.

Selsey are 13th after a 2-1 defeat at St Francis Rangers.

In division, Midhurst played on Friday night and another Phil Churchill goal wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-1 defeat at AFC Uckfield.

Saturday’s division-two headlines were grabbed by Clymping and Southwick, whose game was abandoned after 80 minutes after a serious assault on the referee.

Division-three action saw Bosham - losers in the division three cup semi-final in midweek - get back to winning form with a 2-1 success at Ifield Edwards.

Sidlesham drew 1-1 at home to Dorking while Barnham beat Rottingdean 1-0.
