A 7-0 home defeat to Sussex league division-two leaders east Preston did nothing to assist Midhurst in their bid to move off the bottom.

With half-time approaching Midhurst went further behind when Sean Dummer scored an own goal.

Five minutes after the restart Gary Gashie scored after a pinpoint pass by former Midhurst player Lewis Hamilton, and another own goal – this time by Naz Idris – put Midhurst five down.

East Preston brought on Jon Stokes and Brian Boutwead.

Midhurst introduced Jon Coles and Lee Davis but it didn’t change the course of the game.
