Chichester City’s fine start to the season continued with a 1-0 SCFL premier division win at Hassocks.
Chichester have become Hassocks’ bogey team, not having lost to them in the past five seasons.
That run could have ended had Hassocks taken a fraction of the plethora of chances they created.
Hassocks enjoyed 67 per cent possession, had 15 attempts to Chichester’s nine and nine corners to Chichester’s four.
But football games are won on how many times you can stick the ball in the back of the net and Chichester managed it once to take home the three points.
It was an early goal as well, Josh Clack scoring after 11 minutes to leave everyone inside the Beacon fearing that another convincing defeat could be on the cards.
Hassocks missed opportunity after opportunity and City goalkeeper Charlie Searle had a busy time.
Mark Price rose to nod home for Hassocks, only to see referee Michael Barnes rule it out for a push.
Tuesday night saw City visit Little Common in the second round of the RUR Cup.
This weekend City’s attentions turn back to the FA Vase and they are hoping for a good crowd as they host Sheppey in the second qualifying round.
