Guy Whittingham spoke of his pride as Pompey ended their nine-match losing run with a 0-0 draw at Hartlepool.
Although it was against League One’s bottom club - and was not enough to prevent the Blues extending their winless run to a club-record 20 matches - Whittingham was heartened at how his side dug deep at Victoria Park.
He said: ‘I was proud of them. We defended as a team and that was a good point for us.
‘That’s what I wanted from our players. There was some tired legs out there after the final whistle after giving everything.
‘That point gives us a good platform to build on.’
