MIDHURST and Sidlesham both tasted victory in front of their own fans in their latest Sussex League encounters.
Midhurst 3 Saltdean 1
Sussex League division two
Gary Norgate’s team are celebrating their first league win.
Mark Broughton’s fantastic goal-line clearance kept it goalless and Liam Dreckman broke the deadlock after a pass by Norgate.
Against the run of play, a long punt over the top caught the Midhurst back-line square allowing Rob Salaita to level.
Dreckman drilled an exquisite 18-yard half-volley past the Saltdean keeper. The game was wrapped up when Norgate ran on to a ball down the left l and lobbed the keeper from 18 yards. The Stags go to Uckfield this week.

Sidlesham 7 Clymping 0

It wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken as a pinpoint through-ball from Joe Leggat was met by John Phillips, who slotted under the advancing Clymping keeper.
Midway through the first half, Tom Kelly’s persistence paid off when he was brought down in the box. Tom Jefkins smashed the penalty home.
Tom Bayley, who had come on as an early substitute, went close with a thunderous free-kick from 25 yards that drew an impressive save from the Clymping keeper.
After half-time Bayley latched on to a neat ball from Tom Jefkins to volley into the bottom corner.
The introduction of Dean Reed and the influence of Bayley meant it wasn’t long before Clymping were punished again. Sandalls turned the right-back inside out before teeing up skipper Carragher, whose sublime cross was met by a late run into the box by Tom Jefkins, who glanced a header past the helpless keeper.
Jefkins’ vision led to a defence-splitting ball which the impressive Bayley dispatched with ease into the bottom corner.
Clymping had a strike ruled out for offisde before Sidlesham’s third change saw Jamie Smith replace Kelly.
Sidlesham added to their lead when a jinking run by Reed saw him beat two defenders before neatly dispatching his shot to make it 6-0.
Bayley capped a great performance by drawing a foul from the Clymping defender inside the box. The penalty was taken by veteran Smith, who sent the keeper the wrong way.
There were notable performances from Leggat and Cowell, who looked untroubled at the back, and Philips in the middle of the park.
MoM was Tom Jefkins.
