Hunston Hares in a hurry to celebrate good season

Shaun Jenkins receives his players' player trophy from boss Steve Bailey

The Hares from Hunston CC FC celebrated another successful footballing year with a barbecue and presentation night.

The first XI recorded their highest league finish for many years, finishing third in the West Sussex premier division.

Leading scorer Shaun Jenkins received the players’ player of the year award from first-team manager Steve Bailey.

The reserves struggled to make an impact in their first year in intermediate football, finishing second bottom in WSFL division one.

Reserves players’ player was Martin Lomas while leading scorer was Ian Newnham with ten goals in 23 games.

The Sunday Hares played in the Chichester & West Sussex Sunday League division two after a break of a few years.

Sunday manager Jamie Bunce thanked his players for their commitment and outlined plans for improvement in 2012-13.

He presented awards to players’ player Matt Walker, leading scorer Dan Steele and most frequent man of the match Kieran Gilbert.

Special Club awards were presented to Peter Courtnage (clubman of the year), Steve Galloway (sportsman of the year) and sponsors’ player of the year Dave Rough.

The Hares thanked sponsors Penny Lane Cafe, Molly Maid and Martin Delaney Beckford for their continued support.

Hunston CC’s first team are looking for a new manager after Steve Bailey announced his resignation.

The club thanked Bailey for his passion and commitment over the past three years.

The club have excellent clubhouse facilities, ongoing sponsorship and supportive members.

The reserve and Sunday teams provide players when required.
