Two Carl Dunk goals, one each side of the half-time interval, cancelled out Max Thoms’ 14th goal of the season just before half-time to seal all three points for Peacehaven.
Selsey remain in 12th position in division one with four games of their league season remaining and a date with Rye United in the RUR Charity Cup final on April 24.
Peacehaven’s win sees them go fifth with their seventh consecutive win but Adam Hinshelwood was pleased with his side who were only denied a point in the 83rd minute.
He said: “It was much more of a solid performance than the week before which was what we were after.
“Dan Hegarty’s got pulled off at half-time last week and he’s come back with a solid display and I can’t knock that, it’s what I expected from them really because I’ve got a good, honest bunch of lads.
“It was a bit of a fluke goal really their late winner, one of those that’s a cross come shot that’s just crept under the bar.
“At the same time it’s that bit of ruthlessness that we need to shut out games and once again we’ve shown our naivety at crucial times in games.”
Hinshelwood added that it was ‘a close fought game’ and expected the same again when the sides meet for the final game of the season.
“We keep giving teams around the top end of the table good games but just keep losing by the odd goal,” he said.
Next up for the Blues though is a home tie against Worthing United.
