Round-up: Rocks slip up again but Chichester edge a thriller

The Rocks slipped to eighth in the Ryman premier after a second successive 1-0 defeat.

A 79th minute strike by Leon Angol was enough to condemn them to defeat at Hendon - a week after an even later Kingstonian goal sent them spinning to defeat at Nyewood Lane.

The lack of goals continues to be a worry for the Rocks, especially with them having added Dan Thompson, Harvey Whyte and Jordan Clarke to their ranks since Christmas.

The Rocks are next in action next Saturday at home to Cray, who crashed to a 9-3 defeat at Kingstonian.

In the Sussex League, game of the day was at Oaklands Park, where Chichester City beat Shoreham 5-4 thanks in no small part to a Ken Hagan treble. Aaron McCarthy and Tom Smith got the other goals.

Pagham’s superb run of results ended with a 1-0 defeat at home to Redhill, while Selsey lost 2-0 at Peacehaven.

In division two, a Lewis Hamilton double and goals by Michael Asare and Gary Norgate earned Midhurst a 4-3 home victory over Southwick.

There were wins for two Observer-area sides in division three - Sidlesham, playing their first game for weeks, won 2-1 at Uckfield and Barnham beat Clymping 1-0.

We’ll have all the local action including pictures from the games involving the Rocks and Chichester City in the Observer - out on Thursday.
