SELSEY boss Adam Hinshelwood was deflated after Selsey lost their final game of the season 3-1 at home to Peacehaven in Sussex League division one.
The manager said a host of new players could arrive at High Street Ground over the summer.
He said: “We’re looking to add to the squad over the summer, for sure. We want to be a top-half team, and to do that we’ll have to bring in some fresh faces.”
The Blues had little punch about them on Saturday, with Hinshelwood feeling his side could have done more to get back into the game.
He said: “I’m not really too pleased with the performance. I thought we had a lot of players below par who should have done a lot better for us.”
Hinshelwood did praise young striker Max Thoms, who has been ever-present up front this season.
His strike on 38 minutes brought the Blues level, but two second-half goals ended the hosts’ hopes of a final-day victory.
The boss added: “The only real positive for us was that Max scored once again – he is further improving as a player.”
This result left Selsey 12th in the division-one table, with plenty to build on for next season.
Last week’s RUR Cup final defeat to Rye saw Julian Boniface receive a nasty elbow to the eye, with fears that he may need surgery to repair an expected broken eye socket.
Hinshelwood said: “Julian’s seeing a specialist, but we think he might need surgery – it was nasty but we wish him a speedy recovery.”
